Quilts

Quilting was my first introduction to working with fibers. I was mesmerized by the vibrant colors and funky patterns of each piece of fabric, and dove in headfirst without knowing much about sewing. Through trial and error, I pieced together my first quilt top using the most colorful quilting fabrics I could find. I added interesting textures like corduroy to frame in the arrangements of quilt blocks, and enjoyed every part of the process—from designing the composition to putting it all together. Although I moved on to appliqué portraiture soon after, I will always recognize quilting as my gateway into the world of fiber art! Now, with many more years of sewing experience, I am excited to start quilting again.
